Areas for Growth in Knowledge
Throughout the last seven months, I have begun working in a full time position with student-athletes as academic coordinator and coordinator of student-athlete affairs programs.  In this experience I have learned of gaps in my knowledge so far.  Though I have a basic knowledge of each of the following items and skills, I see room for growth to learn of best practices.

  • Compliance Regulations for Student-Athletes
  • Academic Advising Techniques
  • Diversity Programming Best Practices for Student-Athletes
  • The Specifics of Olympic Sports

Areas of Advanced Knowledge
As a result of work and academic experiences, the following are areas I know very well.  Though I do not claim to be an expert in any of these areas, I can speak confidently and articulately about each of these areas with accuracy.  Each of these areas are personal interests of mine
, some areas of knowledge have been developed through formal work experience, while others were developed solely by my experiences related to interest in that content area.

  • Support Services for Student-Athletes
  • Kouzes and Posner's "Five Practices of Exemplary Leaders"
  • Support Services for Students with Disabilities
  • Wellness Programming

Throughout my development in undergraduate and graduate studies, I have acquired knowledge across a variety of areas both through practice and formal education.  The many opportunities and privileges afforded to me in this time have allowed me to combine all of my areas of interest and knowledge and find a functional area that supports my interest in sharing knowledge and continued learning in each of these areas.
